Rev. Brown is a graduate of the Ohio State University and holds two Masters degrees from Boston University, where he attended seminary. He is the parent of two adult children, Sarah Bixler, RN at the Cleveland Clinic, and Andrew, a pharmacist at the Cleveland Clinic. Both children are married and Steven, himself, was married on September 1, 2007.

Rev. Steven K. Brown became the new pastor at First Church in Mansfield on July 1, 2007 after serving United Methodist Churches in Massachusetts and Ohio since 1976. He most recently served the First UMC of Columbiana from 2000 to 2007.
